7-Day Sumatra Wildlife & Wonder: The Ultimate Eco-Adventure
Embark on a profound journey through the raw landscapes of North Sumatra. This 7-day curated expedition is designed for those who crave a deep connection with nature and heritage. From the lush canopies of Bukit Lawang to the sacred waters of Lake Toba, you will experience ethical wildlife encounters, volcanic sunrises, and the vibrant traditions of the Batak people.
The Journey at a Glance

Day 1: Arrival & Escape to the Jungle
Your adventure begins with a private greeting at Medan Airport (KNO) or your hotel. Relax in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle during the 4-hour drive to Bukit Lawang. Once you arrive at the gateway to the rainforest, check in and spend your afternoon as you wish—unwind by the river, take a refreshing swim, or stroll through the friendly local village.
Day 2: Into the UNESCO Wilderness (Orangutan Trekking)
At 09:00 AM, enter the legendary Gunung Leuser National Park. Led by an expert guide, you will spend the day tracking semi-wild orangutans, gibbons, and rare tropical birds. After a traditional jungle lunch amidst the ancient trees, cap off the day with an exhilarating tube rafting ride back to Bukit Lawang.
Day 3: Tangkahan – The Hidden Paradise & Elephant Encounter
Journey to Tangkahan, a secluded sanctuary known for its pristine beauty. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of natural hot springs and hidden waterfalls. The highlight is an ethical elephant experience, where you can participate in washing and trekking with these gentle giants and their dedicated mahouts, before returning to Bukit Lawang in the late afternoon.
Day 4: To the Berastagi Highlands
We leave the lowland heat for the crisp mountain air of Berastagi (5–6 hours drive). Along the way, we visit the golden Lumbhini Natural Park and the famous local fruit market, where you can sample exotic highland produce. Spend the night surrounded by dramatic mountain views.
Day 5: Volcano Sunrise & The Great Lake Toba
Rise before dawn for a trek to the summit of Mount Sibayak. Watching the sunrise from the volcano’s peak is a truly spiritual experience. Our journey continues to the towering Sipiso-piso Waterfall before arriving at the shores of Lake Toba. A scenic ferry crossing brings you to Samosir Island for your overnight stay.
Day 6: Samosir Island – A Cultural Immersion
Discover the heart of Batak heritage. Today’s exploration includes the ancient Stone Chairs of Ambarita, the Simanindo Village museum, and a mesmerizing traditional dance performance. You will also visit a local village to witness the intricate art of Ulos weaving, experiencing centuries of culture firsthand.
Day 7: Farewell to the Highlands
After a final breakfast overlooking the volcanic lake, enjoy a comfortable transfer back to Medan Airport (KNO) for your departure, carrying with you memories of Sumatra’s wild heart.
