FAQ

Explore Tailored Jungle Treks in Sumatra

Find clear, helpful answers to your questions about our guided tours and trekking adventures.

Where is the meeting point for the tours?

Most of our treks and tours begin in Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra. We can arrange private transportation from Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) or Medan directly to your guesthouse in Bukit Lawang.

When is the best time to visit the jungle?

The jungle can be visited year-round. However, the dry season (February to September) is generally preferred. During the rainy season (October to January), trails can be more slippery, but the rainforest is incredibly lush and vibrant.

Do I need a permit to enter the Gunung Leuser National Park?

Yes, a permit is required. The good news is that we handle all permit arrangements and fees as part of your trekking package, so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork.

How fit do I need to be for the jungle trek?

We offer various levels of treks, from easy 3-hour walks to challenging multi-day expeditions. While a basic level of fitness is recommended, we can tailor the pace to suit your physical ability. Please inform us of any health concerns in advance.

Will we definitely see orangutans?

While the jungle is a wild environment and sightings are never 100% guaranteed, our guides are experts at tracking and know the areas where orangutans are most active. We have a very high success rate for sightings on our treks.

Is it safe to trek in the jungle?

Your safety is our top priority. Our guides are highly experienced, certified, and trained in jungle survival and first aid. We also provide high-quality equipment for overnight stays.

Can we touch or feed the orangutans?

No. We follow strict eco-tourism protocols. Touching or feeding wildlife is strictly prohibited as it can transmit human diseases to animals and disrupt their natural behavior. We maintain a respectful distance at all times.

What is your “Leave No Trace” policy?

We are committed to preserving the rainforest. We carry out all trash we bring in, use reusable containers where possible, and ensure that our campsites have minimal impact on the environment.

What should I pack for the trek?

We recommend bringing:
1. Light, breathable clothing (long sleeves recommended for insects).
2. Comfortable hiking shoes or boots with good grip.
3. Insect repellent and sunscreen.
4. A reusable water bottle.
5. A raincoat or poncho.
6. Personal medication.

Where do we sleep during multi-day treks?

You will sleep in semi-permanent jungle campsites near rivers. We provide comfortable mattresses, pillows, and mosquito nets under a protected tent structure. It’s a true back-to-nature experience!

Are meals provided?

Yes! For all-day and multi-day treks, we provide fresh local meals, tropical fruits, and clean drinking water. If you have dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, etc.), please let us know when booking.

How do I book a tour?

You can book directly through our website’s contact form, via WhatsApp, or by emailing us. We recommend booking at least a few weeks in advance, especially during the high season.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. Please refer to our [Terms & Conditions] page for specific details regarding deposits and cancellation timeframes.
