It is the ultimate itinerary for those who crave an authentic connection with wildlife and the great outdoors.

THE EXPEDITION ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival & Transition to the Tropics

Your adventure begins with a private pickup from Kuala Namu International Airport (KNO) or your hotel in Medan. Enjoy a comfortable 3–4 hour drive through the bustling town of Binjai and scenic traditional villages. Upon arriving in Bukit Lawang, check into your hotel and take the evening to unwind, breathe in the fresh jungle air, and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 2: Into the Heart of the Jungle (Trekking & Camping)

After breakfast at 09:00 AM, your certified English-speaking guide will provide a safety briefing before you enter Gunung Leuser National Park. As you explore the lush ecosystem, your guide will reveal the secrets of medicinal plants and the rainforest’s delicate balance. Keep your eyes peeled for the iconic Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii), along with various monkeys and exotic birds.

Midday, enjoy a traditional Indonesian jungle picnic, featuring local fried rice and a vibrant spread of fresh tropical fruits like passion fruit and pineapple. The day concludes at a secluded riverside campsite where you can swim, enjoy a campfire under the stars, and savor a freshly prepared jungle dinner.
Overnight: Authentic Jungle Camp.

Day 3: Wildlife Observation & The “Jungle Taxi” Return

Wake up to the symphony of the rainforest. Spend your morning exploring the surroundings for 2–3 hours, observing wildlife by the river, or visiting a nearby hidden waterfall. After a nourishing lunch of noodle soup and fruit salad, experience the thrill of traditional tube rafting. Drift down the river back to Bukit Lawang village for a relaxing afternoon at your hotel.

Day 4: Tangkahan – The Hidden Paradise & Elephant Bathing

At 09:30 AM, we depart for Tangkahan on a scenic 2-hour drive through vast palm plantations and rural countryside. After lunch at the lodge, the afternoon is filled with river adventures: swimming in crystal-clear waters, visiting natural hot springs, or exploring the vibrant “Butterfly Beach.”

The highlight of the day occurs at 15:30, where you will join an unforgettable elephant bathing session. Help scrub and wash these gentle giants in their natural river habitat—a truly moving conservation experience. Afterward, we return to Bukit Lawang for the evening.

Day 5: Departure from the Wild

Enjoy a final breakfast overlooking the jungle before our driver transfers you back to Kuala Namu International Airport or your Medan hotel. You’ll leave with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for Sumatra’s incredible biodiversity.
